Browse all free toolsWhat PDF Editor does, in short
It opens your PDF in the browser and lets you add new content on top of the existing pages, or edit text that is already there. Draw, highlight, redact, insert images and signatures, then save the finished document as a new download.
How to Edit a PDF Online
Four steps, no manual required.
-
1
Upload your PDF
Choose a file from your device, drag it into the card, or import one from Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive. The first page opens in the editor.
-
2
Pick a tool and place it
Use the text, shape or pen tools, or open Insert for images, signatures, stamps, page numbers and watermarks. Drag the item where it belongs.
-
3
Adjust the details
Set the font, size, colour, opacity and stroke width, and fix mistakes with undo. The Layers panel lists every edit.
-
4
Save and download
Choose which pages to include, pick a render quality, then download the finished PDF as a new file.

Limits Worth Knowing
What the editor will not do
- Scanned pages. A scan is a picture of a page, so it carries no editable text. Run it through OCR first if you need to edit its words.
- Your own fonts. New text uses the built-in fonts, so it may not match a document set in something else.
- More than one document at a time. The editor opens a single PDF. Merge your files first if they belong together.
- Frozen edits. Saving flattens your edits into the pages, so they can no longer be moved or restyled.
- Small screens. Drawing works with a finger, but placing an item precisely is easier on a larger screen.
Common problems and quick checks
| Problem | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Typed text does not match the document | New text uses one of the built-in fonts. | Pick the closest match, such as Arial or Helvetica. |
| The saved PDF is much larger than the original | Pages are re-rendered on export, and images carry their own data. | Save at a lower render quality, or compress a copy afterwards. |
| An added image looks blurry | A small picture was stretched over a large area. | Start from a larger image, or keep it near its original size. |
| The saved PDF will not open | The download may be incomplete, or a source file is damaged. | Download it again and check the original file. |
| Editing feels slow or the tab freezes | Large, image-heavy pages take time and memory. | Close other tabs, or work in smaller batches. |
How Your Files Are Handled
- No account, no email. You can use the tools without signing up.
- The connection is encrypted. PDFZora uses HTTPS.
- PDFZora does not sell, rent, or trade personal data. Data may still be shared with the companies that help run the site, or disclosed where the law requires it.
- Processing is largely automated. Access to file content is limited to what is needed to run, maintain, secure, or support the service, or to meet a legal obligation.
Processing method can vary by tool. Some operations may run in the browser, while others may require temporary server-side processing. Retention periods depend on the method used. For the latest information about temporary file storage and deletion, see PDFZora's Data Privacy & Security page.
